Unleash Your Inner Rhythm

Jennifer is the principal manager of the group, teaches the classes, and organizes the two dance socials.  She brings a variety of experience with her including a master's degree in education along with a love of dancing and music.  Jennifer provides these offerings on a volunteer basis; she is not an employee of the My People Senior Activity Center.

Interested in starting line dancing one-on-one or in a small group setting?  Visiting the Smoky Mountains with a small group such as a bachelorette party and want to try something new?  Contact Jennifer for information about these options.  Lessons and small events (12-15 people) are offered at Jennifer's home in a dedicated dance space in Seymour, TN about 15 minutes from the My People Senior Activity Center and downtown Sevierville, TN.

MY PEOPLE SENIOR ACTIVITY CENTER

Open dance and classes are intended for the 50+ community.  Become a member with My People, it's FREE!  Just stop by the front desk.  Minimum age requirement is 50.

Open dance time takes place approximately 30 minutes before classes begin from 1:00-1:30.  Dances played are absolute beginner and beginner friendly (levels 1 & 2); steps will be cued for the first few walls.  This is a good opportunity to meet other dancers and warm-up prior to class. 

Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays as follows:

Level 2: 1:30-2:15 drop-in with prior experience, review, new dances ~1 per month

Level 3: 2:15-3:00 drop-in with prior experience, review, new dances ~1 per month

Level 4: 3:00-3:45 must have instructor approval prior to participating at this level

Class itineraries, including links to tutorials, are sent to email subscribers and posted on Facebook in advance of weekly classes.

Level 2, 3 & 4 classes are offered free of charge; an annual contribution drive is held each spring to help offset class related expenses.

Level 1 classes for brand new dancers... due to space and availability restrictions at the senior center, future level 1 classes are on hold.  Alternatively, you can learn everything taught in the level 1 class by visiting the self-directed course below on the MLD YouTube channel.

My People Senior Activity Center

Please be sure to sign up for membership with the My People staff!  It's FREE but important for participating in classes held at their facility.  Minimum age requirement is 50.

We host two, regularly scheduled, dances where you can show off all the hard work you have achieved during the classes.  Please note that there are some months during the year that these dances will not be held.  Be sure to sign up for emails or visit Facebook for up-to-date details!

• 1st Fridays 1:30-4:00pm at the My People Senior Activity Center, FREE, music and walk-throughs provided by Jennifer.  All class dances; dance list is published in advance of the dance on FB and sent to email subscribers.  Open to all line dancers and their guests (limit of 3 guests); My People membership not required, minimum age is 12+.  Next dance is October 30, 2026 - the usual 1st Friday in October and November is unavailable at the center so we are dancing on the 5th Friday instead.  

• 3rd Fridays 6:00-8:30pm at the My People Senior Activity Center, $5.00 per person, music provided by DJ John Rutherford, mix of class dances and requests. The set list of class dances is posted in advance on FB and sent to email subscribers.  This dance is open to all line dancers and guests (limit of 3 guests); My People membership not required, minimum age is 12+.  Dances for the remainder of 2026 are: August 21, September 18, October 16 and November 20.

• International Line Dance Flashmob 2027 - SAVE THE DATE! SATURDAY, MAY 8, 2027!  Open to anyone that wants to participate, no age or membership requirement.  The selected dances will be taught during classes, typically beginning in mid-February until the flashmob; others may learn the dances from a variety of YouTube tutorials that will be posted.  We will dance at the Mountain Mile mall located at 2655 Teaster Lane in Pigeon Forge, TN, 37863.
